About the Director
One of the greatest need of the 21st Century for many families is the need for "Biblical Counseling" to assit in coping and dealing with the diverse, difficult issues facing our families today. The Biblical Counseling Ministry derives from Senior Pastor David L. Kimbrough’s tenet that the Church is accountable for shepherding and discipling God’s people – the members of Seeds of Faith Ministries and the community at large. Biblical Counseling is central to sanctification and discipleship. The Biblical Counseling Ministry (1) is grounded in the Word of God as inscribed in the Holy Bible and proclaimed in the Seeds of Faith preaching and teaching ministries and (2) complements the preaching, teaching, shepherding and discipling ministries of Seeds of Faith Ministries.
Biblical Counseling: power for overcoming problems: anger, resentment, bitterness, guilt feelings, depression, sexual abuse, eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia, divorce, marriage, & parenting.
Biblical counseling has God-given truth which is eternal and unchangeable. In contrast to biblical counseling, the "truth" of psychology is ever changing and contradictory. Therefore, biblical counseling is more effective that secular counseling and "Christian counseling" in which there is an attempt to integrate psychology with the Scriptures.SUFFICIENCY FOR PROBLEMS OF MIND AND BEHAVIOR
The Scriptures declare that God "has given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness . . ."
(2 Pet. 1:3).
"Godliness" includes both mind and behavior. Therefore, God says that the Scriptures are sufficient for structuring both mind (thoughts) and behavior (actions) in godliness--as 2 Timothy 3:16 also teaches ("instruction in righteousness").
MISSION:
The mission of the Biblical Counseling Ministry is to assist members of Seeds of Faith Ministries and members of the community in becoming progressively more Christ-like by applying biblical principles to all matters of life through confrontation, concern and change.BIBLICAL COUNSELING:
Biblical counseling is a process in which a biblical counselor helps a person find and do God’s will, thereby cooperating with God’s plan to progressively conform the person to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. This process is called progressive sanctification.The intended result of biblical counseling is the progressive sanctification of each believer who is counseled. This means the person is making changes that are pleasing to God and that he/she is being conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). Progressive Sanctification is the heart of Biblical Counseling, that is the progressive transformation of becoming more and more Christ-like.
