1. What is the ratio of students to teachers?
It is very important at SOFCA that each student receives the individual attention needed to excel. The ratio for K4 through 5th grade is 1:18. The ratio for K3 is 1:15. The ratio for K2 is 1:10
2. How long has SOFCA been in its current location?
SOFCA relocated to SW Atlanta in October 2004. Prior to our move, we were well-established in Cobb County since August 2000. Our student body has grown from 28 students to well over 120 students.
3. Does SOFCA offer before and after school care?
Morning Care is available beginning at 6:30 a.m. at no additional cost.
After School Care is available until 6:30 p.m. at $10 per day for the first child; $8 per day for the second child in the same family; additional children in the same family are no additional cost.
4. Does SOFCA offer a summer camp program?
SOFCA hosts an eight week summer camp program. The program offers academic enhancement, weekly fieldtrips, and nutritious meals.
5. What are the criteria for hiring teachers?
The administration of SOFCA believes that teaching is more than an occupation; it is a ministry. SOFCA only offers employment to individuals who are educated, experienced and qualified in the profession with a passion to see students excel and has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
6. What time does school begin/end each day?
School begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.
After school fees begin at 3:31 p.m.
7. What grades does SOFCA service?
SOFCA services students from 2 to 12 years of age. ( K2 – 5th Grades)
8. Does SOFCA offer a hot lunch program?
SOFCA provides nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Meals are provided to all preschool students at no costs. The daily cost for elementary students (K5-5th Grade) is $1.50/breakfast and $3.00/lunch.
9. Do the students wear uniforms?
Daily uniforms are a requirement and may be purchased at any clothing store. School logos are only available at Buckhead Uniforms.
10. What curriculum is taught at SOFCA?
SOFCA provides excellence in education with utilization of the following curriculums: A Beka; Bob Jones; and ACSI. These curriculums are built upon the firm foundation of Scriptural truth and are written by dedicated and talented Christian scholars who are well grounded in the practical aspects of teaching.
11. Does SOFCA offer extracurricular activities?
The core curriculum is enriched by Physical Education, Performing Arts, and Spanish classes.
Camp David FAQ
Camp David is opened daily from 6:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. We are closed in observance of Independence Day.
2. What is the weekly fee?
The weekly fee is $125.00 and includes breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. You only pay for the weeks your child attends.
3. Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes. The sibling rates are $125/first child; $115/second child; and $105/third child.
4. Is there a daily rate?
The daily drop-in rate is $35 per child, up to three days per week. Discounts are not available on daily rates.
5. What does the registration fee cover?
The Registration Fee of $225 covers the cost of weekly fieldtrips, on-site activities, academic workbook, and a Camp David T-shirt
6. How is Camp David staffed?
Camp David is staffed with the same familiar faces as during the school year. Our faculty and staff members are 12-month employees.
7. When is the registration deadline?
The registration deadline is May 20, 2016. Students are accepted after the deadline provided there is space available. The registration fee after May 20, 2016 is $275.
8. What ages may enroll in Camp David?
Camp David serves students from ages 2 to 12. All students must be fully toilet-trained. We only accept two year old students who are enrolled in the academy for the upcoming school year.
9. What are the planned field trips?
The students take a fieldtrip every Thursday, beginning the second week of camp. In the past, fieldtrips have been planned to US Play/Chuck E. Cheese; GA Aquarium; American Adventures; Coca-Cola/Centennial Park; Dixieland Fun Park; Zoo Atlanta; Kangazoom; GA Shakespeare Theatre; Six Flags; and Stone Mountain Park.
10. What are the academic focuses?
Students have four days of academic enrichment focusing on Reading, Math, Science, and Language Arts. Each child receives his/her own workbook.
11. Are the younger students required to take a nap?
All students 5 years and under are required to have at least 90 minutes of rest time each day.
12. Are the students required to arrive each morning at a certain time?
No, students may arrive at whatever time is convenient for their parent/guardian. Students should arrive early on fieldtrip days.
13. What is the daily attire?
Students may dress casually each day. Open toe shoes, such as sandals and flip-flops are not allowed. Students are required to wear Camp David T-shirts on all fieldtrips.
